TIME STUDY ANALYSIS OF LONG-WOOD MEASUREMENTS IN WOOD HARVESTING WITH CHAIN SAWS

Abstract


The study was carried out during the final felling in an 85-year-old pine stand. Average times of specific operations in the productive time category and its structure were analysed. An analysis was carried out that focused on differences between times of measuring operations in groups of trees, from which the long-wood assortments of different lengths and diameters were harvested. Also, correlations between the measurement times and basic parameters of the harvested wood (total length and the length and diameter of the long-wood) were calculated. for comparative reasons, similar analyses were carried out for other operations within the wood harvesting productive time category. Both the longest time and the highest share in the productive time were found for the operation that comprised the diameter measurement of the long-wood piece and writing the result of the measurement on the cross section area of the wood assortment. This time category accounted for 20% of the productive time and its relation to the length of the long-wood assortment was statistically significant. The analysis of measurement times in tree groups from which long-wood pieces of different lengths and diameters were produced showed no significant differences between these times.
