Influence of reproductive cutting in common beech treestand on quality of raw wood material
Abstract
Investigation was made in Bobolice Forest District (State Forest Regional Inspectorate in Szczecinek) in 5 treestands with diferent type of cutting: late thinning, preparatory cutting, light felling and final cut. In treestand with late thinning half of a trees have red heartwood, not higher than 8-10 per cent of tree trunk cut area. At trees from preparatory cutting share of red heartwood was between 0% and 37%, on average 16%. At trees from light felling share of red heartwood was 19.6%. The highest share of red heartwood was at trees from final cutting and it was on average 34%. Statistical significance different was between share of red heartwood from final cut and from preparatory cutting and light felling. Moreover, statistical significance was correlation between red heartwood share on cutting area and berast hight diameter in trees from light felling (0.97) and final cutting (0.44).
